Fulltime Quantitative Finance Risk Management Consulting

Job Description

Do you want to be part of a company that advises an international client base of pension funds, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, banks, and asset managers? Are you client-oriented and do you want to build your consulting expertise? Do you enjoy following global economic developments and financial news? Join us as an Economic Consultant in our Scenarios and Asset Valuation team!

What will you do as a consultant?

As a consultant, you will be part of a team that is responsible for helping our clients work with our quantitative economic scenarios for many applications such as ALM for pension funds and insurers, risk management, and financial planning. You will be the first point of contact for a portfolio of clients that you will build a relationship with. In addition, you will be in touch with a wide range of clients located in various regions for more ad hoc requests. While the interaction with our clients is mostly online, we make an effort to visit our clients in person where possible, as well as invite them to our events such as the Client Conference.

The stochastic scenarios that you will be advising on are generated by a simulation model and provide the projected future risk and return of many asset classes such as equities, government bonds, corporate credits, and private assets. These scenarios are constructed to reflect the economic characteristics of market behavior in a realistic way. Our clients can therefore use our scenarios to navigate the uncertain economic environment and analyze which investments fit best with their goals.

Within this role, every day will be different. During a typical week, you may:

  • Discuss with a European pension fund how current financial and economic developments are reflected in our quantitative scenario projections. Your enthusiasm and communication skills help them deepen their insight into the current high inflation environment. By working together with a colleague from a different solution, you can include the potential consequences of monetary policy for their balance sheet in this discussion.
  • Set up our economic scenarios for a new client in Asia. By asking the right questions, you understand their perspective and can effectively address their needs. You perform a data analysis on their investment portfolio to relate it to the models that we use to analyze the risk and return of their investments. By liaising with our team of quantitative financial analysts, you determine whether any custom modelling should be built, and what the possibilities are.
  • Get to know a prospective client located in the United Kingdom. Together with a senior consultant, you help our sales colleague identify the needs of this insurer. Based on this discussion, you highlight the added value of our quantitative models in their context, including a discussion of stress testing possibilities that will help them address questions from their regulator.

We work together as a team to provide high quality service to our clients, while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. The senior consultants in the team are available to coach you and they will actively help you grow towards realizing your ambitions.

We offer you plenty of room to fully apply your talents and highly value an enterprising spirit. You will be given responsibilities immediately and will work directly with clients soon after starting in this role.

The Scenarios and Asset Valuation Solution

You will be part of our Scenarios and Asset Valuation Solution, which is a group of about 25 persons. We provide both real-world and risk-neutral economic scenarios to enable our clients to manage the complexity of investment decision making. Our real-world scenarios provide risk and return projections that dynamically adjust to the latest economic and financial market circumstances. This includes the effects of ‘externalities’ such as central bank interventions or Brexit and has a global coverage of asset classes for many different regions. We achieve this by integrating characteristics of realistic market behavior (“stylized facts”) into forward-looking asset prices, yield curves, and volatilities as well as into the broader macro-economic environment. Our risk-neutral scenarios enable actuaries and finance professionals to perform market-consistent valuations of optionality in insurance liabilities and of financial contingent claims more generally. SAV is an innovative multidisciplinary group with Consultants, Quantitative Financial Analysts, and Quantitative Developers as well as Software Developers.
