We are looking for young talent willing to combine writing their thesis with working as a student assistant in one of our departments. We firmly believe that this combination provides the candidate with the best opportunity to experience what working for Ortec Finance is like. The length of this program is typically 7 months but can be tailored to the candidate's preferences. During the application process, R&D Labs will explore relevant thesis topics to work on during your internship. In addition, based on your ambitions and interests, we match you to one or more departments to work for us as a student assistant.
Who are you?
We are looking for candidates:
- who are creative;
- who like problem solving;
- who are able to bring theory into practice.
And, preferably with expertise in one of the following areas:
- Machine learning
- Applied mathematics
- IT technologies
- Econometrics
This position is only open to students that are in their last stage of their Master of Science (MSc) or Bachelor of Applied Sciences/Engineering.

- Master students receive 1.514,20 euro (grow month allowance) based on a combined function of two days as a student assistant and three days internship. For Bachelor positions, the gross monthly allowance is 1.192,80 euro.
R&D Labs
Since its establishment, Ortec Finance has put innovation through applied scientific research and IT developments on the forefront. Our research and innovation activities are concentrated within the Ortec Finance R&D Labs.
We work and experiment with both new modelling approaches and IT techniques and concepts in order to research their applicability to investment decision-making. R&D Labs aims to be the linking pin between Ortec Finance and the scientific research community. It performs innovative, high-quality research with a strong practical focus. We collaborate with students, academics and external parties to design the future of investment decision making.

Tijdens je studie
Ortec Finance heeft altijd een groot aantal studenten in dienst. Sommigen onder hen schrijven een afstudeerscriptie bij ons terwijl anderen enkele dagen per week bij ons werkzaam zijn als student assistent. Studenten brengen vaak nieuwe inzichten met zich mee en hebben een andere kijk op het vakgebied. Wij zijn geïnteresseerd om van jouw ideeën en suggesties te leren!
Als student assistent bij Ortec Finance krijg je de kans om jouw kennis in de praktijk toe te passen. Wij zorgen er voor dat je niet meteen in het diepe wordt gegooid. Je kunt rekenen op de steun en het advies van je collega’s, die allen experts zijn op het gebied van complexe optimaliseringsvraagstukken in een variëteit van financiële sectoren. Stuk voor stuk zeer gekwalificeerde mensen die zich vaak ooit zelf in jouw positie hebben bevonden en die jou nu kunnen helpen de volgende stap te zetten.
Wij hebben interesse in studenten die een studie volgen richting een van de volgende disciplines en met een sterke interesse in de financiële wereld:
- Econometrie
- Natuurkunde
- Informatica
- Wiskunde
Er zijn verder tal van mogelijkheden als je een studie volgt in een andere, relevante technische discipline, zolang je maar een sterke interesse hebt in IT of wiskunde. Actuele vacatures voor student assistenten publiceren wij op onze website onder het level ‘Students’.
Studenten die graag een Masterscriptie bij Ortec Finance willen schrijven, bieden wij de keuze uit verschillende scriptieonderwerpen. Je kunt je afstudeerstage ook combineren met een parttime baan als student assistent, zodat je kennis kunt maken met het werken bij Ortec Finance. Na je studie
Uiteraard hebben we ook vele mogelijkheden om na je studie een uitdagende start met goede arbeidsvoorwaarden te maken als bijvoorbeeld Consultant of Software Developer!
Als starter volg je gedurende je eerste periode van je carrière bij Ortec Finance een opleidingstraject bestaande uit diverse inhoudelijke- en vaardigheidstrainingen.
