Robeco's Insurance and Pension Solutions portfolio managers are part of the Sustainable Multi Asset Solutions team, that provides wholesale and institutional clients with bespoke outcome orientated solutions to achieve their financial and sustainability goals across assets, in asset-only and asset-liability context. The insurance and pension solutions portfolio managers are primarily responsible for managing fully customized client driven fixed income solutions across asset classes for insurers and pension funds globally. These solutions include LDI (liability driven investments) and buy and maintain credit / government bonds portfolios, focused on for example matching cash flows, delivering an optimal yield, avoiding fallen angels and/or decarbonization.

Insurers and pension funds face the imperative of finding investment solutions that generate sufficient returns, while managing risk in a world of high inflation, geopolitical uncertainty and increasing regulation and focus on sustainability. We help clients address these challenges by delivering bespoke investment solutions incorporating a client’s specific risk and return considerations and their local regulatory requirements and a sustainability objectives.

We employ a combination of quantitative and fundamental skills to design and manage these client-specific portfolios, supported by a comprehensive set of proprietary tooling developed within the team. We cooperate closely with other departments for the distribution and management of our strategies, such as sales-, insurance strategy- and other fixed income investment teams.

As a Portfolio Manager:

You will be working in a dynamic environment and acquire broad knowledge on markets, sustainability and the global insurance & pension industry. You will work closely with the other members of the team on research and portfolio management. As such you will be monitoring and assessing portfolio risks and following financial market developments daily. You will also be responsible for developing new front-office tooling and research for portfolio management purposes. Furthermore, you will be responsible for delivering insights to our clients by creating presentation material together with sales and presenting to clients.


Multidisciplinary scope Working in the in insurance & pension solutions team means that you must use your expertise of investments, regulation and sustainability and apply that to client specific objectives across a diverse and international client base. Innovation You have the chance to develop ideas within the team and with other departments. This requires creativity and good communication skills to put forward your idea or translate ideas of others into a suitable client solution. Commercial – You work closely with sales and account managers enabling you to learn how to present complex products to clients globally. The portfolio managers frequently have direct contact with existing and potential clients. Quantitative – Further improving our proprietary front-office tooling means putting your quantitative skills to the test. Your responsibilities on this field include analyzing new datasets, further automating our processes and portfolio construction.

We are searching for a junior or more experienced candidate who ticks (most of) the boxes below

  • An academic degree preferably in a quantitative/economic field of study
  • A maximum of 7 years working experience and fluent in English and preferably in Dutch
  • Modeling and programming skills (preferably in Python)
  • Passionate about financial markets and can simplify and solve complex problems
  • Can explain a complicated issue in easy words based on clear logic and intuition.
  • Thriving when working on a topic with multiple angles and stakeholders
  • Pioneering and hands on mentality: always looking for solutions and efficiency.
